2018 Asian Games (Indonesia: Asia's Summer Sports Party 2018), officially known as the XVIII Asiad, was the 18th Edition of the event the multi sports event of the Asianregional plan will be held in Indonesia on August 18, 2018-2 September 2018 in two places, namely Jakarta and Palembang, as well as several places as a host of supporters such as Lampung, West Java and Banten . The number of sports that will be contested as much as 41 branches, consisting of 33 Olympic sport and non sport 8 Olympic Games .
This sports event is the second time Indonesia hosted the 12th Asian Games after the Fourth Asian Games held in Jakarta in 1962. [7] most of the facilities built for the Asian Games IV will be re-used in the XVIII Asiad. For the first time in history, the Asian Games will be held in two cities at once.
Indonesia agreed to host the Asian Games XVIII by the Executive Board of the Olympic Council of Asia on September 19, 2014. [9] the Asian Games XVIII will be held initially in the year 2019 is then brought forward into the years 2018 to avoid the legislative elections and the election of the President of Indonesia which will also be heldin that year.
Hanoi, Viet Nam had originally been chosen as the host defeated Surabaya, however they withdrew due to financial constraints.
